Abstract

Peer-to-peer shared economy platforms have been connecting economic actors in digital media to offer services on-demand based on idle assets. The methodology is a result of a quali-quantitative triangulation based on bibliometric data and semi-structured interviews that aimed to analyze how these platforms have been studied and which are the main requirements to managers. The bibliographic data were obtained from the Web of Science main collection. Additionally, stakeholders in innovation ecosystems in Brazil and the United States of America were interviewed. The data were analyzed by their contents in three approaches: research fronts and intellectual base; digital peer-to-peer platforms of shared economy impacts; and challenges for management professionals. The results indicate six research fronts: business reformulation; consumption ways; work relationships; and new business models’ creation. In relation to stakeholders’ perspectives, it was possible to verify the concern about delivery and value creation; and professional capacitation decoupling under this digital business context.
